IntraOral TMJ

Intraoral TMJ massage is a specialized technique that helps relieve pain and improve function in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)—the hinge connecting your jaw to your skull. Using gloved hands, gentle pressure is applied to the muscles inside the mouth and around the jaw to release tension and restore balance.  Because TMJ dysfunction is often an underlying cause of neck, shoulder, and even back pain, this work can have far-reaching benefits. Many clients experience relief from jaw tension, headaches, and overall discomfort, making it a powerful tool for improving daily comfort and function.

Intraoral TMJ massage is always done with gloves for safety and comfort. I’ll gently access the muscles inside your mouth, working slowly and with clear communication throughout. You may feel pressure or slight discomfort, stretching, or small releases in your jaw and surrounding areas. Many people also notice tension easing in their head, neck, and shoulders. The work is gentle, intentional, and we’ll go at a pace that feels safe for you.

Because these muscles are rarely worked on, it’s common to feel a little tender or sore in the jaw after your first intraoral session—similar to post-workout soreness. This usually eases within a day or two and typically does not return in future sessions. Most people then notice lasting relief in the jaw, head, neck, and shoulders, along with easier chewing and less clenching. Staying hydrated and avoiding overly chewy foods can help your body integrate the changes more smoothly.
